Students are required to set their goals at the beginning of the term. Setting SMART goals ( SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, REALISTIC AND TIMEbound) goals are a definite way to help student take responsibility and ownership to their learning.

At the Elementary level, students will focus on:

Enjoy and read for pleasure.

Writing:

Sentence structures, paragraph writing, short story writing, creative writing, Figurative Devices, Genres include persuasive, argumentative, informative, and descriptive.

Middle School and High School:

Students will read a variety of short stories, novels, articles to gather insights and make interpretations, and critically understand the author’s purpose. Analysis and critical thinking is an essential component of reading.

Students will write literary essays, commentaries, argumentative and persuasive prompts. Gathering insights, dwelling on deeper meaning, analyzing, and forming opinions are a part of student writing.

Vocabulary tests will be conducted to help students develop a huge repertoire of words that will be essential to learning and comprehending.
